Running and stuff! Something else to write about!
As a online content strategist and writer, I spend a lot of my time sitting at a computer. To make up for it, I try to keep active.
I absolutely hated running, but when a friend asked me to do a 5K with her in 2012, I started running. I suddenly realized that while running is hard, accomplishment feels good.
Although I’m a very slow runner, I’ve run dozens of long distance races. I completed my first half-marathon in January 2014 and my first full marathon in October 2015.
As a teenager, I was really into bicycle racing, winning OBRA‘s Best-All Around Rider as a Jr. Woman 17-18. And I returned to my bike to complete my first triathalon in June 2019.
I’m always looking for new things to do and can rarely stay still. After my triathlon, I picked up karate and competed in my first tournament in November 2019. I also enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing and backpacking.
I’m lucky to be joined by many active friends who often join me when I get another crazy idea. My biggest supporter is my mother, who has completed marathons with me (and continually beats my PRs right after I set them), and my husband, Jason, who can literally run circles around me.
The goal is to always stay in motion.
