Running along the Prom— Seaside, Ore

Running on the Beach

Training runs get really tedious sometimes and it’s nice to be able to mix it up. We worked our July 13th training run into a trip to the beach.

In Seaside, there is a 1.5 mile long concrete promenade or “The Prom.” It’s like a boardwalk, and it follows the beach.

We ran out and back on the promenade, adding a bit of running on the beach and on side roads to make it to 5.5 miles for me and 6 miles for Jason.

The view was spectacular and the weather was nice and cool. It was one of the best training runs I’ve had in a long time.

Our brief run through the dunes was interesting, but not something I’d want to do all the time.Jason running on the beach

Luckily, the part of the beach we were running on was pretty hard packed and not as soft as the rest of the sand, which made it a decent surface to run on.

After all the high 80s to mid 90s temperatures we’ve been having, I was grateful for the mid-60s run.

And afterward, we were able to relax on the beach!
