Training runs get really tedious sometimes and it’s nice to be able to mix it up. We worked our July 13th training run into a trip to the beach.
In Seaside, there is a 1.5 mile long concrete promenade or “The Prom.” It’s like a boardwalk, and it follows the beach.
We ran out and back on the promenade, adding a bit of running on the beach and on side roads to make it to 5.5 miles for me and 6 miles for Jason.
The view was spectacular and the weather was nice and cool. It was one of the best training runs I’ve had in a long time.
Luckily, the part of the beach we were running on was pretty hard packed and not as soft as the rest of the sand, which made it a decent surface to run on.
After all the high 80s to mid 90s temperatures we’ve been having, I was grateful for the mid-60s run.
